Tips for CV

Tips to ensure your CV stands out from the rest.

1. Make sure your CV is no longer than 2 pages. Longer CVs are usually the first to be rejected by many employers - don't waffle! If your CV has to be longer, try and get all the main information on the first page!

2. Keep it simple! Employers will generally be uninterested in naff school records like the egg and spoon race record time! Make sure you're concise and straight to the point!

3. Structure it! Write your CV in a logical order. Here's a possible layout:
Name
Contact details
Personal details
Education
Employment history (in reverse chronological order, most recent job first, give the location, responsibilities and achievements for positions)
Hobbies and Interests

4. Finally:
Your CV should leave your employer wanting to know more - tease them.
Keep your CV up to date.
Keep your CV on a CD Rom or floppy disk
Write your CV using a standard word processor package, Microsoft Word is the most common.

Don't use 100's of silly fonts. Stick to one font, preferably arial or times new roman, and make sure you stick with it!

  1. hi, mr/ms admin, i'm Rhuyann, president of Green Lung..I happened to come across this blog..and i find that this is a good platform to connect USM-ians..As Green Lung's going to have Green Lung Carnival 2010 (GLC2010) from 23rd to 25th Feb, so I'm thinking if you could lend us your hand in helping us to promote our event thru your FB group and blogspot so that our event could outreach more people esp citizens in USM and share our vision with them to walk towards a smoke-free campus?

This is my email. greenlung.president@gmail.com. Hope to hear from you soon. Your help would be so much appreciated. TQ
